Applications & use cases

Hard starting and low power
A worn injection pump delivers less fuel at lower pressure: long cranking and weak power under load.

Smoke and uneven running
Uneven delivery between cylinders shows as smoke and rough running.

Fuel leaks
Leaks from the pump body or shaft seal mean it is time to replace it.

Fitting tips
Set the pump timing to the engine maker's figure, bleed the fuel system, and use clean fuel and new filters.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my Isuzu 4JH1?

Yes, it was made for the Isuzu 4JH1, and 3 more listed under compatible equipment. Check the old fuel injection pump is marked 109341-1040 or one of the cross references, because makers change parts between serial ranges.

How often should I replace the fuel injection pump on my Isuzu 4JH1?

On the Isuzu 4JH1, often 5,000 to 10,000 hours with clean fluid, much less with dirt or air in the system. It is usually changed on condition, not by hours.

What are the signs the fuel injection pump needs replacing?

Leaks from the seal or weep hole, noise or whining, overheating, or falling pressure or flow under load.

What should I do with the gasket faces?

Clean them right back to metal and fit the new gasket or O-ring dry, unless the engine manual calls for sealant.

Should I prime it before starting?

Yes. Fill the pump and its suction line with clean fluid before the first start. Running it dry, even for a few seconds, can score it.

Is this a genuine Zexel 109341-1040?

No. It is an aftermarket fuel injection pump made to replace the Zexel 109341-1040. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
