Frequently asked questions

Will it replace my Denso 428000-2030?

Yes, it is a direct replacement for the Denso 428000-2030 with the same fitting.

How often should I replace the Denso 428000-2030?

Typically 5,000 to 10,000 hours, depending on how often the machine is started and how well the batteries are kept.

What are the signs the starter motor needs replacing?

Clicking with a good battery, slow cranking, grinding as it engages, or the starter staying engaged after the engine fires.

What should I disconnect first?

Disconnect the battery earth before removing the old unit. The main cable is live at full battery current.

What should I check before fitting it?

Battery voltage under load, the earth strap and the main cable. A weak supply makes a good starter motor look faulty and will burn out the new one.

Is this a genuine Denso 428000-2030?

No. It is an aftermarket starter motor made to replace the Denso 428000-2030. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
