Genuine Raytools capacity head sensor, part number 120AH1300A, for the Raytools BM109 fiber laser cutting head (flat sheet version).

The capacity head sensor is the assembly at the bottom of the head that carries the nozzle and turns the gap between nozzle and sheet into the signal the height controller follows. It holds the ceramic, the nozzle connector and the lock ring, and it is the part that takes the knock when the head collides. A damaged sensor shows as height alarms, a head that hunts up and down, or a nozzle that touches the sheet.

Square aluminium body with the side signal connector, ceramic ring, nozzle connector and knurled lock ring, as fitted to the BM109. Sold singly.

Applications & use cases

After a head collision
The capacity head sensor is the first part hit when the nozzle strikes a tipped part or the sheet. A cracked body or a damaged ceramic seat shows as height control alarms. A spare on the shelf gets the machine back the same day.

Height control that hunts or alarms
If the head bobs, cuts at the wrong height or throws sensor faults after the cable and amplifier check out, the sensor at the bottom of the head is the next part to change.

Planned spares for a fleet
Shops running several Raytools heads keep one sensor per head type on the shelf, because a machine without one cannot cut at all.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my Raytools BM109 (flat sheet)?

Yes, it was made for the Raytools BM109 (flat sheet). Check the old capacity head sensor is marked the original part or one of the cross references, because makers change parts between serial ranges.

How often should I replace the capacity head sensor on my Raytools BM109 (flat sheet)?

On the Raytools BM109 (flat sheet), there is no fixed interval. It is changed when it fails, and many fail from water in the plug or chafed wiring rather than wear.

What are the signs the capacity head sensor needs replacing?

A fault code for this circuit, readings that jump or stay fixed, or a part that does not respond with power at the plug.

How do I test the old part first?

Read the fault codes, then check the plug and wiring for corrosion or a broken wire. A wiring fault reads the same as a failed capacity head sensor.

Does the voltage matter?

Yes. Many machines have 12 V and 24 V versions of the same capacity head sensor. Check the old part or the machine plate before fitting.

Is this a genuine the original part?

No. It is an aftermarket capacity head sensor made to replace the the original part. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
