Hitachi 4257163 is the throttle (stepper) motor in an aluminium gearbox housing with an output shaft and a lead to a plug. It is used on Hitachi and John Deere excavators. This aftermarket version has the same mounting and electrical connector as the original, so it plugs in and bolts on where the old one came off.
The same part is also sold as Hitachi 4188762.

Engine speed will not change
If the engine stays at idle or will not follow the throttle dial, the throttle (stepper) motor on the governor linkage is a common cause. Check the controller fault codes first.
Hunting or uneven engine speed
Worn gears or a weak motor let the governor lever drift, so the engine speed surges. A new motor holds the lever steady.
Fitting tips
Note the linkage position before removing the old motor, fit the new one to the same bracket and run the engine speed adjustment from the machine's service mode.
