Hitachi 4482656 is the engine speed (throttle) dial: a rotary potentiometer with a brass shaft and three wire leads, and the grey control knob that fits on the shaft. It is used on Hitachi Zaxis excavators. This aftermarket version has the same mounting and electrical connector as the original, so it plugs in and bolts on where the old one came off.

Sold as one unit. Check the number on your old part, or in the parts manual for your machine, before ordering.

Applications & use cases

Machine will not start or power up
A worn key or selector switch is a common cause of no-start faults once the batteries and fuses check out.

Intermittent faults
Switches that have to be held or jiggled will fail completely soon. Replacing them is a quick job.

Water and dirt
Cab and dash switches take water and dust. A corroded switch is cheaper to replace than to chase.

Fleet spares
A spare switch for each machine type keeps a machine working instead of waiting for parts.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my Hitachi ZX200?

Yes, it was made for the Hitachi ZX200, and 5 more listed under compatible equipment. Check the old switch is marked 4482656 or one of the cross references, because makers change parts between serial ranges.

How often should I replace the switch on my Hitachi ZX200?

On the Hitachi ZX200, there is no fixed interval. It is changed when it fails, and many fail from water in the plug or chafed wiring rather than wear.

What are the signs the switch needs replacing?

A fault code for this circuit, readings that jump or stay fixed, or a part that does not respond with power at the plug.

Do the fault codes need clearing?

Usually. Clear them after fitting and run the machine, so old codes are not mistaken for a new fault.

Should I grease the connector?

A little dielectric grease keeps water out of the plug on machines that work outside. Make sure the terminals are clean and tight first.

Is this a genuine Hitachi 4482656?

No. It is an aftermarket switch made to replace the Hitachi 4482656. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
