Use cases and applications
What it does
Exhaust gas spins the turbine, which drives the compressor wheel on the same shaft and pushes more air into the engine. More air lets the engine burn more fuel cleanly, giving the rated power.

Frequently asked questions
Will it replace my John Deere RE508711?
Yes, it is a direct replacement for the John Deere RE508711 with the same fitting.
How often should I replace the John Deere RE508711?
Often as long as the engine, 8,000 hours or more, when the oil and air filters are kept on schedule. Most turbos fail early from oil or dirt problems, not age.
What are the signs the turbocharger needs replacing?
Blue or black smoke, a whistle or siren noise, loss of power, oil in the intake or exhaust, or the shaft rubbing the housing.
What should I do before the first start?
Pour clean engine oil into the oil inlet and turn the shaft by hand, then crank the engine with the fuel cut until oil pressure shows. Let it idle for a minute before load.
Should I change the oil and filter as well?
Yes. Fit new oil and a new filter, and replace the oil feed and drain gaskets. Make sure the drain line is clear and runs downhill.
Is this a genuine John Deere RE508711?
No. It is an aftermarket turbocharger made to replace the John Deere RE508711. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
