Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my Case 420?
Yes, it was made for the Case 420, and 11 more listed under compatible equipment. Check the old starter motor is marked 428000-6030 or one of the cross references, because makers change parts between serial ranges.
How often should I replace the starter motor on my Case 420?
On the Case 420, typically 5,000 to 10,000 hours, depending on how often the machine is started and how well the batteries are kept.
What are the signs the starter motor needs replacing?
Clicking with a good battery, slow cranking, grinding as it engages, or the starter staying engaged after the engine fires.
What should I check before fitting it?
Battery voltage under load, the earth strap and the main cable. A weak supply makes a good starter motor look faulty and will burn out the new one.
What should I disconnect first?
Disconnect the battery earth before removing the old unit. The main cable is live at full battery current.
Is this a genuine Denso 428000-6030?
No. It is an aftermarket starter motor made to replace the Denso 428000-6030. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
