SPM-HEP-4572 is the 12 V, 1.6 kW starter: a flange mounted reduction starter with a 15 tooth pinion and a solenoid with a blue lead. It is used on Yanmar 3TNB engines. This aftermarket version has the same mounting and electrical connector as the original, so it plugs in and bolts on where the old one came off.
It replaces Yanmar 129150-77010 and Yanmar S114-408.
Sold as one unit. Check the number on your old part, or in the parts manual for your machine, before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my Yanmar 3TNB80U?
Yes, it was made for the Yanmar 3TNB80U, and 2 more listed under compatible equipment. Check the old starter motor is marked 129150-77010 or one of the cross references, because makers change parts between serial ranges.
How often should I replace the starter motor on my Yanmar 3TNB80U?
On the Yanmar 3TNB80U, typically 5,000 to 10,000 hours, depending on how often the machine is started and how well the batteries are kept.
What are the signs the starter motor needs replacing?
Clicking with a good battery, slow cranking, grinding as it engages, or the starter staying engaged after the engine fires.
What should I check before fitting it?
Battery voltage under load, the earth strap and the main cable. A weak supply makes a good starter motor look faulty and will burn out the new one.
What should I disconnect first?
Disconnect the battery earth before removing the old unit. The main cable is live at full battery current.
Is this a genuine Yanmar 129150-77010?
No. It is an aftermarket starter motor made to replace the Yanmar 129150-77010. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
