Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my Mahindra 1533?
Yes, it was made for the Mahindra 1533, and 2 more listed under compatible equipment. Check the old starter motor is marked 006005017D1 or one of the cross references, because makers change parts between serial ranges.
How often should I replace the starter motor on my Mahindra 1533?
On the Mahindra 1533, typically 5,000 to 10,000 hours, depending on how often the machine is started and how well the batteries are kept.
What are the signs the starter motor needs replacing?
Clicking with a good battery, slow cranking, grinding as it engages, or the starter staying engaged after the engine fires.
Should I check the ring gear?
Yes. Look at the flywheel teeth through the starter opening. Chewed teeth will damage the new pinion.
What should I check before fitting it?
Battery voltage under load, the earth strap and the main cable. A weak supply makes a good starter motor look faulty and will burn out the new one.
Is this a genuine Mahindra 006005017D1?
No. It is an aftermarket starter motor made to replace the Mahindra 006005017D1. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
