Applications & use cases
Coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant
Milky oil, oil in the radiator or a falling coolant level with no outside leak are classic signs of a failed head gasket.
Overheating and pressure in the cooling system
Combustion gas pushed into the water jacket pressurises the radiator, blows coolant out of the overflow and makes the engine run hot under load.
Low compression and white smoke
A gasket blown between cylinders or into a water passage shows as a misfire, low compression on one or two cylinders and white smoke at start up.
Fitting tips
Check the head and block for flatness, clean both faces, use new head bolts where the engine maker calls for them and tighten in sequence to the specified torque.

Frequently asked questions
Will it replace my Komatsu 6754-11-1811?
Yes, it is a direct replacement for the Komatsu 6754-11-1811 with the same fitting.
Can a gasket be reused?
No. A gasket crushes to seal once and will not seal again. Fit a new one every time the joint is opened.
What are the signs the head gasket needs replacing?
For a head gasket: coolant loss with no outside leak, milky oil, bubbles in the radiator, or overheating under load.
Do the head bolts need replacing?
Many diesel engines use stretch bolts that must be replaced. Check the engine manual, and always follow its torque sequence and stages.
Should I use sealant?
Not on a multi-layer steel head gasket: it goes on clean and dry. Paper and fibre gaskets elsewhere may need a thin film, as the engine manual says.
Is this a genuine Komatsu 6754-11-1811?
No. It is an aftermarket head gasket made to replace the Komatsu 6754-11-1811. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
