SPM-HEP-5218 is the electronic unit injector: the grey body with the plunger spring, the white solenoid cap with the terminal pins and the nozzle with its sealing rings. It is used on Caterpillar C15 engines. This aftermarket version is made to the same mounting and connections as the original, so it fits where the old one came off.
It replaces Caterpillar 249-0702 and Caterpillar 10R-3261.
Sold as one unit. Check the number on your old part, or in the parts manual for your machine, before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Will it replace my Caterpillar 249-0702?
Yes, it is a direct replacement for the Caterpillar 249-0702 with the same fitting.
How often should I replace the Caterpillar 249-0702?
Often 5,000 to 10,000 hours, but much less on poor or wet fuel. Injectors are usually changed when they fail a test, not by hours.
What are the signs the fuel injector needs replacing?
Black or white smoke, a misfire or knock on one cylinder, hard starting, higher fuel use, or a high return leak or balance rate on test.
Do I need new sealing washers?
Always. Fit a new copper washer and O-rings under every injector you remove. A reused washer leaks combustion gas and carbon packs the bore.
What should I do before fitting it?
Clean the bore and seat of carbon, and keep the nozzle capped until it goes in. Torque the clamp to the engine manual, not by feel.
Is this a genuine Caterpillar 249-0702?
No. It is an aftermarket fuel injector made to replace the Caterpillar 249-0702. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
