Caterpillar 186-1525 is the hydraulic solenoid valve (screw-in cartridge with green flying lead and plug). It is used on Caterpillar H series motor graders and the D8R dozer. This aftermarket valve has the same ports, mounting and coil connector as the original, so it fits where the old one came off.

A worn cartridge that does not shift fully gives slow or weak movement, or lets the function creep.

A coil that reads open or short on a meter needs replacing; check the connector for water and corrosion first.
Fitting tips
Relieve the hydraulic pressure, clean around the valve before removing it, fit the new O rings lightly oiled and tighten to the specified torque.
