Hitachi 4444902 is the engine governor angle sensor: a round body with a two hole flange, a shaft and a lead to a two pin plug. It is used on Hitachi and John Deere excavators. This aftermarket version has the same mounting and electrical connector as the original, so it plugs in and bolts on where the old one came off.

Engine speed not matching the dial
The angle sensor tells the controller where the governor lever sits. A failed sensor gives wrong or hunting engine speed. Check the controller fault codes first.
Fitting tips
Mark the sensor position before removal, fit the new sensor to the same position on the governor and run the engine speed adjustment from the service mode.
