Applications & use cases
High pressure drop across the filter
As the element loads with oil and dirt, the pressure drop rises and the compressor works harder for the same pressure at the tools. Change the element when the differential gauge reaches the red zone.
Oil or water reaching the tools
A saturated or damaged coalescing element lets liquid through to the dryer and the point of use. Replace it and check that the housing drain is working.
Scheduled replacement
Coalescing elements are normally changed every 12 months or 8,000 hours, whichever comes first, or sooner if the prefilter ahead of them has been neglected.
Fitting tips
Isolate and vent the housing, check the drain is clear, fit the new element with a clean O ring, and check the bowl seal before pressurising.
