Miller 192053 (also listed as 177887) is the drag shield for the Miller ICE-40C, ICE-40T, ICE-50C and ICE-55C air plasma torches, used on the Spectrum 625, 625 X-TREME, 701 and 2050 plasma cutters. This is an aftermarket part made to the same number and fit.
It replaces Miller 192053 and Miller 177887.
The drag shield screws over the tip at the front of the retaining cup. Its notched face lets you rest the torch on the plate and drag it along a line while the tip stays at the right height, and it keeps spatter off the tip when piercing.
Check the number on your old part or in the torch manual before ordering: it should read 192053. Sold in packs of 2 or 5.

Applications & use cases
Drag cutting
With the drag shield fitted you can rest the torch on the plate and follow a line or template by hand. Replace it when the face is worn, burned or out of round.
Protecting the tip
The shield keeps spatter and molten metal off the tip, especially when piercing. A shield clogged with spatter should be replaced.

Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my Miller ICE-40C?
Yes, it was made for the Miller ICE-40C, and 3 more listed under compatible equipment. Check the old plasma shield is marked the original part or one of the cross references, because makers change parts between serial ranges.
How often should I replace the plasma shield on my Miller ICE-40C?
On the Miller ICE-40C, laser and plasma nozzles wear in days to weeks, depending on hours of arc or beam time, material and gas. Change it on condition, not by date.
What are the signs the plasma shield needs replacing?
An oval or nicked orifice, spatter stuck on the tip, more dross, a wider cut or bevel on one side, and height sensing errors.
What should I do after changing it?
Centre the nozzle on the beam and recalibrate the height sensor. A new nozzle off centre cuts on one side only.
How do I know it is worn?
Look at the orifice: if it is oval, nicked or has spatter stuck to it, the cut quality falls. Change it before it damages the parts behind it.
Is this a genuine the original part?
No. It is an aftermarket plasma shield made to replace the the original part. It is not made by the original manufacturer; the number only shows what it replaces.
